There are a large number among us who need education, inspiration, and the real American outlook because they are foreign-born. We E.-J. workers feel our responsibility for these fellow-workers because of our generosity as well as because of our patriotism.
Let us not forget that the strength of the country is in its united thought and we cannot think in common unless we speak in a common tongue.

The Making of New Americans

On October 6 Your Home Library opened its doors a second time to welcome the non-English speaking residents of the surrounding community to its evening classes. About 32 enrolled to reecive instruction in civics, English, reading and writing.
To the new American the new country has different customs, different ides, different traditions, and a different form of government; a democracy with the largest possible freedom to all.
