TechWorks! actively collects workplace stories, documents, photographs, and artifacts from Central New York inventors & companies - any technology - any time frame. Our only collection filter is geography: we focus on technologies connected to or rooted in Central New York State.

There are several ways to support the Center’s work financially:

  • Mail a check to Center for Technology & Innovation to CT&I, 321 Water Street, Binghamton, NY 13901;

TechWorks! is operated by the Center for Technology & Innovation, an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) organization registered with the IRS and NYS Charities Bureau in 1994. All gifts are fully tax-deductible and may be eligible for matching grants from IBM and other employers. IBM Matching Grants program for employees’ donations is now online. Work in Progress

In 2024, we are focused on preparing TechWorks! for participatory visitor experiences.

  • Update Museum Concept Plan for next-gen TechWorks! galleries of dynamic displays of Central New York State pioneering innovations, including avionics, computing, evolving energy generation and storage, flight simulation, 3D imaging, photography, technology of music, space exploration and more.

  • Return Link Aviation Pilot Trainers from the 1940s, 1960s, and 1990s and Lockheed Martin helicopter trainer to flight status for coaching visitors.

  • Expand operations of Vintage IBM Computing Center equipment - IBM 1401 mainframe system to play music from punch cards, IBM System 360 Printer for visitors’ pre-digital selfies, IBM 1255 check sorter, and more.

  • Create a Pixel Place for visitors to play classic video games on vintage hardware consoles, powered by video chips designed by IBM Endicott engineers.

  • Reassemble Lunar Module Simulator visual system, on long term loan from National Air and Space Museum

  • Restore a Binghamton-built 1920s Link Silent Movie Theater Organ
